Saving The Sounds Of America
by Tom Cole February 13, 2013

Piedmont Jazz News
We've been able to record sound for over 125 years, but many of the recordings that have been made in that time are in terrible shape. Airline Mega-Mergers: 'Good, Bad And Ugly'
by Wendy Kaufman February 14, 2013
Piedmont Jazz News
The proposed marriage of American Airlines and US Airways announced Thursday is likely the last in a series of industry mega-mergers, but history suggests combining two big carriers isn't easy. "They were members of the same airline alliance, they cooperated on certain international flying; they had a complementary route network; they had similar cultures; they had a similar approach to doing business."

Senate committee votes to end NC fracking moratorium
RALEIGH - A proposal to lift the state’s fracking moratorium and provide incentives to the energy industry to encourage drilling is headed for a vote by the full Senate. E.S. “Buck” Newton, the bill’s lead sponsor, predicted the bill’s passage would bring an almost immediate economic boost to North Carolina’s hotels, engineering firms and trucking companies.
